Cleburne, Tx was First Known as Camp Henderson
The city of Cleburne was known as Camp Henderson in the 1860’s when it started. The site was chosen because of its close proximity to the Chisholm Trail.
The reservoir that provides water to the city and surrounding area is Lake Pat Cleburne.
Pat Cleburne was part of the Texas Division, which was one of five military divisions in Texas during Reconstruction. The city of Cleburne has named many streets after veterans who were either born here or had strong ties to Camp Henderson.
Oldest road in Johnson County
The site was close to the oldest road in Johnson County, a former wagon trail used by the soldiers travelling from Fort Belknap to Fort Graham. The location had an excellent water source at West Buffalo Creek that attracted travelers notably cattlemen from adjacent Chisholm Trail. During the Civil War the location was used as a Bivouac by Jefferson County troops heading to war. The town was named in honor of Patrick Cleburne which many of the soldiers had fought under during the Civil War. The importance of the transportation center was reinforced by the arrival of the railroad in late 1800’s.
As you can see, this is an increadable Texas town, that still feels like Texas. This is why Cleburne Texas is the home of the best Residential and Commercial HVAC and refrigeration company in North Texas, Crisp Climate Control!
